Document 1
William T.Ward payroll records During Civil War.

Document 2
William T Ward's original enlistment papers 1862, into the 61st Illinois Vol Infantry signed at Auburn Illinois.

Authors note*
There has been some debate as to whether William T Ward could read and write. We can't be sure if he signed this enlistment paper, but it looks as if he did. RW

Photo Right: Capt James F Carrico, 61st Illinois Reg. Infantry whose signiture is on the above document.

AUTHORS NOTE*
I find the above physical description of William T Ward interesting, stating eyes-"black", hair- "black", complexion- "Light", height 5" 5"

Authors note;
I have found the Carricos in the area that William Ward (1) seems to originate, the S W corner of Virginia. The Carrico family has a long and distinguished military history. RW
